FineMolds 1/350 IJN "Special Type" Class Destroyer "AYANAMI"
Washington Naval Treaty signed in 1922 by Japan restricted Japan from owning battleships, aircraft carriers, and cruisers. The Navy, which had to revise its maritime defense initiative, started by expanding and strengthening its destroyers in order to increase the number of auxiliary ships below the light cruisers that are not restricted by the treaty.
Ayanami was the eleventh of twenty-four Fubuki-class destroyers and was designated as "Special Type Destroyers". Some of the characteristics of this class of destroyers are its large size, powerful engines, high speed and its long range.
